The uniquely curved glulam arches at the Michael Smith Laboratories reflect the innovation being achieved by the biotechnology lab. The glulam arches were manufactured from one of kind Douglas-fir trees. Precision 3D CAD software that interacts with computer driven machinery was used to ensure flawless beams, that were then trial fitted prior to shipping. Seamless connectors create smooth lines while clear adhesive and stain maintain the warmth of natural wood, offset by shining steel and glass.
