This sustainable building, built using our Glulam beams, includes many features that are a part of the City of Edmonton’s commitment to the environment. The exhibit includes a green roof to minimize storm water runoff, drought-tolerant planting and dark-sky compliant exterior lighting. The Artic Shores exhibit also features a unique water treatment system. The water in the seal and sea lion pools is treated on-site with a combination of mechanical equipment and subsurface saltwater wetland so it can be reused in the animals’ aquatic home.
Working with Structurlam on the UBC Brock Commons project was an absolute joy. Their attention to detail with respect to complex machining tolerances and logistics made for a very smooth procurement process.Robert Jackson, Structural Project Engineer for the Brock Commons Phase 1 Building, Fast + Epp, Vancouver, BC
