The PDX Flatiron building is a timber-framed mixed-use building on the bustling North Mississippi Avenue in Portland. The five stories of 28,000 square feet will serve as open loft space with Oregon-made glulam frame and Structurlam CrossLam floor deck.
The Cross-laminated timber deck was chosen for its unique ability to simplify the corner geometries structural requirements. Because CLT is two-directional in strength, the Design Team was able to use the material to create the laced corners with double cantilever balconies and projections.
Throughout the process of working with Structurlam we've been very satisfied with the service they've provided and the performance of the CLT. We've also been pleased that we were able to stay well ahead of schedule.
